Best Front end Web Frameworks in 2022
Congratulations you have just learnt JavaScript and you are now considering on using a Web Framework or library. Frameworks helps facilitate the job of web developers by offering pre-written packages included in a bundle to make it faster and easier to develop web applications and user experiences without having to code it completely from scratch.
Using popular frameworks helps with adding another tool to your tool belt and allows you to become substantially more hireable as every team and start-up prefers to use these tools to make the development process a lot more easier
In this article i’m going to list what i deem are the most popular and “job ready” frameworks that will help aid you to becoming a better front end developer
1. React
React is an open source front-end Javascript Library for building user interfaces based on UI components. It is currently maintained by Meta (previously known as Facebook). It is a straight forward library to learn as it focuses on three main aspects. Declarative, Component-based and Reusability.
to learn about what this means visit the react documentation here
pros:
- Built Components can be reused in other parts of the application.
- Easy to learn and use and implement
- With the way React Structures elements it makes it easier to maintain and change
- Allows you to expand into mobile development with React Native down the line
- The most popular library with may job availabilities
cons:
- JSX can be difficult for developers
- Poor documentation often said by existing developers including myself
2. Vue
Vue is arguably the most beginner friendly frameworks that allows anyone to jump in. It has gained traction over the years and has established itself as a go to framework for many. Vue JS is an approachable, performant and versatile framework that started off as a project for single page applications however has expanded. Evan You, the creator of Vue wanted to build a custom tool that takes all the best parts of Angular but in lighter weight and more performant.
to learn more about Vue in general visit the documentation here
pros:
- Light-weight size of the framework itself measuring at approximately 18kb when zipped.
- Performance is a key factor, when benchmarked according to Vue themselves it is more quick when testing DOM components bound with data updated.
- Similar to React Component Reusability, makes code more readable and is good for unit-testing
cons:
- Lack of stability in components
- Relatively small community which makes it harder when you have bugs and problems
3. Angular
Angular is supported by Google and has was recently reworked in 2016 which includes it been rewritten in TypeScript and supporting Mobile. Angular features Directives which allows it to be programmed using special behaviours of the DOM, making it possible to create rich and dynamic HTML content. Angular has a Hierarchical dependency injection function, which makes code components highly testable, reusable, and easier to control.
to learn more about Angular visit the documentation below
pros:
- Two-way binding. This means that the Model-View-Controller was built with Angular Js and the framework is synchronised with the Model and the View. Two-way binding allows developers to reduce development time on writing additional code to provide continual View and Model synchronisation
- Angular has one of the largest Communities that has been with the framework from the very start
- Components are reusable using dependency injection
cons:
- Difficult and steep learning curve, which can also be overwhelming for smaller teams
- Not as performant as Vue and React which also means the Framework is quite bloated
Lastly before i clock off i want to mention a couple of other Frameworks and Libraries that must be considered.
- jQuery: although older and not used as much in newer teams and start-ups. However powers more than 70% of the the 10 million most popular sites according to Wikipedia
- EmberJs: is also another framework that offers two-way binding similar to JS and is also one of the more performant web frameworks on the market
